WealthLens
Give monthly spending a clear limit
A category budget helps you compare a plan with what you have already spent. WealthLens brings the limit, actual expenses and remaining amount together, so you can review a month without assembling separate spreadsheets. Budget amounts are targets you set, not advice about what you should spend.
Start with a category and a month
Create a budget for a spending category and choose a monthly limit in your base currency. Expenses in that category and month count toward the budget. Income, account opening balances, transfers and goal contributions do not. Use transaction filters to review the entries behind a surprising total.
Read progress and overspending together
A budget can be within its limit, near the limit or over it. A full progress bar does not hide overspending: the amount above the limit is shown separately. For the fictional examples below, groceries have room left, transport is close to its limit and leisure has exceeded its target.
Review the plan instead of rewriting the past
Check that transactions have the right category and date before adjusting a limit. Changing a budget does not alter the account balance or erase an expense. WealthLens does not block payments, enforce spending controls at a bank or guarantee that a budget will be affordable.
Worked example · fictional VND amounts
| Category | Budget limit | Spent | Over budget |
|---|---|---|---|
| Groceries | ₫6,000,000 | ₫4,200,000 | ₫0 |
| Transport | ₫2,000,000 | ₫1,900,000 | ₫0 |
| Leisure | ₫2,000,000 | ₫2,400,000 | ₫400,000 |
Do transfers consume a budget?
No. Monthly category budgets aggregate expenses only. A withdrawal represented as a transfer between your accounts is not an expense.
What does a budget above 100% mean?
Recorded expenses exceed the chosen limit. For example, spending 2,400,000 VND against a 2,000,000 VND limit is 120%, or 400,000 VND over.
Does increasing a budget add money?
No. It changes your planning limit. Account balances still come from opening balances and recorded transactions.
